Formerly known as the Northern Transvaal, Limpopo houses many of South Africa’s archaeological sites.

The capital, Polokwane (previously named Pietersburg) was founded in 1884 and named after General-Commandant Piet Joubert.  

This is truly a province of sharp contrasts ranging from bushveld to subtropical climate. It is well known for it’s majestical Baobab trees and Game hunting as well as indigenous forests, waterfalls and caves. The protected areas and nature reserves are some of the best preserved in the world.
